Wedding Bells

DH proposed to me in Northern Ireland. Five year ago we took a trip to th other side of the pond so I could meet his family and see where he grew up. One day we went to visit the church where he and his sister were baptised and where his parents were married. We were visiting the grounds outside and he found out we could go inside, but I didn't see what the hurry was...gave in though. While we were visiting the inside of this beautiful church, he kept saying, "well, this is where my parents were married and..." kept interrupting him because I'd heard he story so many times (he tends to repeat the same stories A LOT!) and besides, I was busy taking pics of the stained glass windows. He finally turned me around, held me by the shoulders and said some beautiful things to me and then asked me to marry him. He had planned on getting down on one knee, but he thought I'd take off again! His parents, sister, her husband and some uncles and aunts were all there to celebrate the news! My parents back in Canada already knew because DH had driven up from Kingston to Ottawa after I left for work one morning and asked my parents to bless us and give permission for us to marry. A man after my heart!

We got engaged September 5, 2008.
We went camping the year before (2007) at Crimson Lake (Rocky Mountain House area) and their is a bike trial that is about 10 km that goes all around the lake, so beautiful. There is a little spot that lookes over the lake and has a balcony,bench and its a there is a memorial rock so a family obviously made this really pretty area. Its sooo nice and peaceful.

So.....
We had planned on going camping there once again in 2008. DH was soo excited about the camping trip I thought that was alittle off. Anyways on the saturday morning we got up and got ready to go on the bike trial. We just got onto the trial and we stopped at that little bench again (love it there) and DH grabbed my hand got down on one knee and said " Will you marry me" I was sooo shocked. Of course I said YES!!! and started ugly crying (happy tears). It was so perfect and cute!
I had one big rule and that was whenever we did get engaged before he proposed he had to ask my Dad for permission (its a big deal for my dad since I am the baby). So right after I said Yes! I was like did you ask my dad?! lol Of course DH had so it was super cute! I called my mom that night and she already had champagne in the fridge for when we got home!

It was such a perfect proposal!! Plus DH picked out my ring and everything and he did an outstanding job!

Hello there as you can tell by my name I am a huge halloween fan. It happened in October of last year. It was a fall evening. Leaves were falling and everyone had pumpkins out on their porches:) In my mind.. that was romantic.. haha.
My fiance called me and told me to get ready he was going to pick me up... well... he did pick him up : in a horse drawn coach! like cinderella! with a beautiful white horse. There was head lights on the coach and everything. We went for a ride and when we got down by the ocean he asked me. Can you believe... I didnt see it coming? I just thought it was a super sweet amazing nice thing to do. But of course I said yes and we are getting married this October 23rd. I loved reading all your stories! they are all so nice..

FH proposed on Christmas this past year. When we were at his Dad's place for Christmas eve dinner he announced that I was going to get my gift early, in fact he couldn't wait till the morning and at midnight he was going to give me my gift regardless of where we were. There was a possibility of pulling over on our way home, but we made it home before midnight, but not much. I barely got my coat and boots off when he called me into the bedroom. He sat me down on the bed, got down on one knee, told how much he loved me and how he wants to spend the rest of his life with me, and pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes.
Then he told me the story of the ring. It was a ring his grandparents had made for their 25th anniversary with a diamond from each of his grandparents wedding rings on either side of a diamond that belonged to his great aunt. His grandmother gave it to him to give to me after we had seen them and his mom in October. He had been talking with his mom and grandma about being laid off, and how he had wanted to propose this Christmas but he didn't want to propose without a ring and now we didn't have money for a ring. His grandma asked him if that was the only reason he wasn't going to propose, that he didn't have a ring. When he answered yes, she offered her ring and FH graciously accepted. He even asked my Dad for permission once he had the ring.

I also got engaged this past Christmas. We were visiting my parents for Christmas. We had already exchanged gifts prior to going so I really wasn't expecting anything. It was Christmas evening, we were in bed reading before going to sleep. I said that I was ready to go to sleep so he said he would go turn off the light. I turned to put my book on the nightstand and he got out of bed. When I turned back, he was on his knee next to the bed! He had hidden the box under his pillow, and he pulled it out. He said "actually, I have one more Christmas present for you... will you marry me?" My response? "Are you freakin serious???" Totally caught me by surprise! I came to my sense a few seconds later and said yes. I really was not expecting it at all, I had no idea it was coming. He picked out the ring all by himself, and he did an amazing job, I love it! My parents were already sleeping so we decided to wait until the morning to tell them. He went right to sleep, I guess he had been pretty nervous all day, but I was way too excited, barely slept all night. Apparently he had been carrying the box in his pocket all day because he wanted to ask my dad but never got the chance since I never left them alone together - oops!

My fiance proposed to me in my sleep. We had been discussing marriage after only a few months of dating. He knew that I would suspect any type of dinner or trip. So one week, when I just happened to be sick, he brought me Nyquil to help me sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night and he was not next to me. He was sitting in the dark in the kitchen. I asked him if something was wrong and sat down next to him in the dark, still groggy from the Nyquil. I ran my hand through my hair and felt something move on my finger. It was then that I realized what it was. I was crying and laughing at the same time. He turned on the lights, got down on both knees and asked me to marry him at 3 in the morning. He was so happy I did not sleep through the night because he was awake with anticipation. We cried ourselves to sleep in happiness. After I called my mother at 4 am of course!

We went out for dinner at a fancy restaurant for our 4 year anniversary. I was hoping he would ask me and at dinner he DIDN'T! I was in a foul mood on the way home, not talking or anything. Once we got home I changed out of my dress, put on pajamas, took off my jewellery and laid on our couch. He was still dressed up and asked me if I would like my present (I had given him his present already, and he insisted that I wait for mine.) I said "yeah sure, whatever." (thinking it would be something like a car stereo or something) He goes down into our basement and comes upstairs. He says "okay, sit up and close your eyes." and I do. He says "open your eyes" and he is standing in front of me and moves the coffee table. He says "before I give you this I need you to promise me that you love me as much as I love you." I say "I do" He gets down on one knee and pulls a ring out of his pocket and says "Will you marry me?" and I said "No.... YES!!!" and we embraced for what felt like forever He had asked my dad months before, and I am shocked my dad could keep it a secret from me for so long! Now I am marrying my very best friend.

How did he propose? Really badly and nervously! Even tried to score mid-proposal! But the memory of it makes me smile:)))

Mine is a little different. FH and I were talking on the phone one day in April 2010 and he asked me if I wanted to get married next summer. He wasn't planning to ask, he just did. I said, great and let's go pick out my ring. He said no way. He still wanted to pick out a ring and propose "the right way". On August 2, 2010, he took me for ice cream before we went swimming (which is normal for us). We started at Beacon Hill Drive inn, then took a walk thru Beacon Hill Park. We were walking over a foot bridge and he gets down on one knee, pulls out a ring and asks if I would marry him. I have to say, I shed a tear. I put it on, then we went to the pool.
