I think that's really high...then again I'm really cheap and did my own makeup AND hair.

exactly what i was going to say. practice with youtube, even on a saturday afternoon.

i would say 125 for each is crazy. hair is worth it. makeup is worth to me maybe because they may know how to make it STAY...but you can learn that too from youtube. kandee johnson is awesome

You tube is a good idea. I've used it in the past to learn how to do my "going-out" makeup look! However, I am getting mine done the day-of...but I'm only paying $60. I would just rather not stress over having to DIY and get it all perfect...plus I might try fake lashes...which will never happen on my own! wink

Check out You Tube, or shop around for a more competitive price!

True enough! I would pay $60 for makeup but more than that, I'd rather do it myself. smile Or like the other girls say, get it done at MAC, buy $40 of their product (which is how they charge you) and be done with it! Hmmm.. that's actually sounding much better the more I think about it. LOL!

K I suck at hair and make-up and I'm really cheap but I am bitting the bullet and paying $120 for make-up but thats my trial and day of and $90 for hair trial and $110 for day of hair....$125 seems a bit high but if there are no other options it's only a bit of money smile

Whatever you decide to do, DEFINITELY get a trial done first. I had my girls' makeup professionally done with mine... I turned out ok but one of my girls looks like a crazy doll in all of our pictures. I second the comment that I'd rather spend the money on decent makeup from Sephora/MAC and do it myself this time around.

I'm not a vain person by any means, but I think that on the one day that everyone's eyes are on you, it's worth some $ in the grand scheme of things to pay a professional. I would get a few quotes, do a couple of trials and get the most value for my money.

I have a friend who did her own makeup for her wedding (not that you could tell, she did a fantastic job), and she did exactly what everyone is suggesting - over a few weeks, she went to her favourite makeup counters for free trials of certain products and lessons on how to apply them and then bought the products she wanted (which she can now use all the time).

When we were talking about it, she said something I thought was interesting. Instead of feeling more freaked out about having to do her makeup, she found it really comforting to have something to do - something she did almost everyday (and I think she felt she had more control).

Just a thought (because I would be worried about adding more stress if I did it myself).

i agree with gingy, i think it is worth the money to look the best you possibly can..not to say that you couldn't do it yourself but i wouldn't want the added stress if my makeup didnt turn out the way i wanted to if i were trying to do it myself. i wear makeup all the time and have gotten pretty good at it but i'd prefer to have an artist that will take it to the next level and do a better job than i could do on a daily basis. smile
